Onboarding & Security

Ribbit is built to make onboarding smooth and secure, even for users who are new to crypto. We’ve designed the wallet creation process to feel as familiar and easy as setting up a regular finance app, while giving users full control over their assets. Our onboarding flow is fast, intuitive, and puts security first without overwhelming the user.

Wallet Setup

Users can create a new wallet in just a few steps. Once created, they receive a recovery phrase. This phrase is a set of 12 or 24 words that works like a backup key. Ribbit offers multiple ways to store this recovery phrase. Users can save it manually by writing it down. They can also choose to back it up using secure options like Google Drive, iCloud, or Apple Keychain, depending on their device. These backups stay encrypted and are never shared with Ribbit.

For users coming from other wallets, Ribbit supports easy import. They can import an existing wallet using a private key or a recovery phrase. This makes the transition smooth and fast.

Recovery Phrase

The recovery phrase is one of the most important parts of wallet security. It allows users to recover their wallet if they lose access to their device. As long as they have the phrase, they can reinstall Ribbit on a new device and get back into their wallet. If they lose the recovery phrase, no one, including the Ribbit team, can restore access. This ensures that full control stays with the user.

Security

Ribbit is built with strong privacy and security in mind. Private keys are created on the user’s device and never leave it. They are not stored on Ribbit’s servers. This removes the risk of central server breaches. The app also supports added security measures like biometric authentication and PIN protection. Users can choose to enable these based on their preference.

There is also a view-only mode for those who want to monitor a wallet without making transactions. This is helpful for users who want to track balances and activity but do not need to interact with the funds.

Ribbit gives users everything they need to manage their crypto safely. The goal is to offer strong security while keeping the experience simple and smooth.
